Faulty immune system
This is why psoriasis often affects people with weak immune systems. When the immune system is weak, the body cannot fight against common irritants like dust mites, pollen, mildew, and bacteria.
Lack of proper nutrition
This may also be a trigger for psoriasis. When a person does not get enough vitamins and minerals through food, the body cannot properly function, thus allowing toxins to build up and cause psoriasis.
High in cholesterol and carbohydrates
These foods include dairy products, eggs, red meat, shellfish, and processed meats. Some people do notice an outbreak of psoriasis on occasion, usually after a stressful period or event. If you find yourself experiencing this situation, you should avoid these foods to keep your skin healthy.
Other possible psoriasis causes
It is believed that some medications may be a trigger for some people. Light therapy, as well as phototherapy, is used to treat mild cases of psoriasis. Phototherapy consists of exposing skin to wavelengths of light under medical supervision.
